  • Large Mixing Bowl:
  • Saucepan
  • Wooden spoon or spatula for mixing
  • Square or rectangular baking dish
  • Parchment paper
  • Sharp knife for slicing
  • Refrigerator for chilling

  • 1 cup (about 200g) plain sweet biscuits (such as digestive biscuits or graham crackers), crushed
  • 1 cup desiccated coconut
  • 1 cup walnuts or hazelnuts finely chopped
  • 200 g about 7 oz unsalted butter
  • 1/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 large egg beaten
  • Icing sugar for dusting (optional)

  • Prepare Biscuit Base:
In a large mixing bowl, combine the crushed biscuits, desiccated coconut, and chopped nuts.
  • Melt Butter and Cocoa:
In a saucepan over low heat, melt the butter. Once melted, add the cocoa powder, granulated sugar, and vanilla extract. Stir until the sugar dissolves and the mixture is well combined.
  • Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients:
Pour the melted chocolate mixture over the dry ingredients in the bowl. Add the beaten egg. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are evenly combined.
  • Press into Pan:
Line a square or rectangular baking dish with parchment paper. Press the mixture firmly and evenly into the dish, creating a smooth and compact layer.
  • Chill:
Place the dish in the refrigerator and allow the hedgehog slice to chill for at least 2-3 hours, or until it's set.
  • Slice and Serve:
Once set, remove the chilled slice from the dish. Using a sharp knife, cut it into squares or rectangles.
  • Optional: Dust with Icing Sugar:
If desired, dust the top of the hedgehog slice with a sprinkle of icing sugar before serving.
  • Enjoy:
Your hedgehog slice is now ready to be enjoyed! Store any leftovers in the refrigerator.
